Harris County Municipal Utility
District No. 249 ("MUD 249") is a conservation and
reclamation district and a political subdivision of the
State of Texas created by an Order of the Texas Water
Commission, now known as the Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality ("TCEQ"), dated January 30, 1985.
MUD 249 operates under the provisions of Chapter 49 and Chapter 54
of the Texas Water code, as amended, and
other general statutes of Texas applicable to municipal
utility districts, and is subject to the continuing
supervisory jurisdiction of the TCEQ. MUD 249's primary
function is to finance, purchase, construct, operate and
maintain improvements, facilities and plants necessary
for the supply and distribution of water; the
collection, transportation and treatment of wastewater;
and the control and diversion of storm water. MUD
249 is empowered to issue bonds and other forms of
indebtedness to purchase or construct such facilities.
Additionally, the District provides solid waste disposal
and collection services to its customers.
